This striking artwork featuring a F4U Corsair vintage fighter aircraft is created by layering 1/8" (3mm) laser cut and engraved wood over a detailed printed background showing the aircraft's measurements and technical details.
The F4U Corsair is one of the best known fighter aircraft of the Second World War, and it also saw service in the Korean War. It was used primarily by the US Navy and Marines, although it was also flown by the Royal Navy, the New Zealand Air Force and the French Navy. Designed as a carrier-based aircraft, it had a distinctive inverted gull wing design which was developed to help make the landing gear struts long enough in order to allow sufficient ground clearance for the large three-bladed propeller. In total 12,571 F4U Corsairs were built.
The unique combination of layered wood and card shows of the F4U Corsair in a way which would be impossible with a traditional print. It makes a great gift for pilots or aviation enthusiasts, and looks great wherever you choose to display it.
