This striking artwork featuring a vintage Grumman Hellcat US Navy fighter aircraft is created using a combination of laser cut wood and a detailed printed backing card. The artwork shows the aircraft from the side and front, and depicts the wings in both their folded and extended positions.

The Grumman F6F was a carrier-based fighter aircraft used extensively by the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and the Royal Navy. In total 12,275 were built in just over two years. It was powered by a 2,000 horsepower Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine.

The layering of 1/8" laser cut and engraved wood over a sturdy cardstock backing gives the design a unique three-dimensional quality which shows off the aircraft in a way which would be impossible with a regular print.
