Submarine blueprint decor. This design features the internal workings of 'Bushnell's Turtle', the world's first submarine. The artwork is created using a combination of 3mm composite wood and a printed background.

A raised tag mounted underneath the blueprint features the submarine's name and the year it was built, 1775.

The Turtle (also called American Turtle) was the world's first submersible vessel with a documented record of use in combat. It was built by American David Bushnell as a means of attaching explosive charges to moored ships in a harbor. It was to be used against Royal Navy vessels occupying North American harbors during the American Revolutionary War. Connecticut Governor Jonathan Trumbull recommended the invention to George Washington, who provided funding for the development of the machine. Although the Turtle was deployed, it was never responsible for sinking any ships.

This design makes for interesting nautical decor, and is sure to get noticed wherever you choose to hang it!

This listing does not include the frame.
